To protect it from diseases, the grape vine should be treated with pesticides in certain intervals. In order to make this treatment timely and appropriate to the stage of the grape vine, Atfield Technologies is developing an advisory software solution that uses parameters – such as microclimate conditions in the vineyard, the assessment of the vine’s potentials to contract one of four most dangerous vine diseases (Plasmopara viticola, Erysiphe Necator, Guinardia Bidvelli, Botrytis Cinerea), weather forecast and a situational assessment of the vineyard – to come up with an objective proposal of the next date for chemical treatment. This solution will save winegrowers costs related to chemicals, water, and time needed to maintain the vineyard, and enable environmentally more sustainable grape growing. The solution also includes solar powered sensors that are installed in the vineyard and serve to collect and send data that are further processed by complex algorithms and combined with activities conducted in the vineyard.
